It’s shocking to know that one in three girls and one in seven boys may be sexually abused in New Zealand before they turn 16 according to HELP Auckland’s sex abuse support agency, who provide counselling and psychotherapy for victims of abuse.

In his groundbreaking book “The Body Keeps the Score”, Bessel Van Der Kolk discusses recent scientific advances that show how trauma literally reshapes both the body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

This discovery has allowed a breakthrough in our understanding of trauma – recognising that it is not just the brain but the body that needs to heal from trauma in PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

I have found in my work that healing at the body level can allow clients faster healing and transformation on an emotional level as well.

I feel humbled to be able to support clients on their healing journey, helping them to feel more secure in themselves and helping them to find more freedom and joy in their lives.
